Mother-of-3 found butchered in possible 'macabre ritual' killing while 7-months-pregnant with fourth child

On September 21, 24-year-old Ohana Karolin's body was discovered butchered, with her genitals mutilated and her womb slashed open. Investigators disclosed that the pregnant mother of three had become a part of a ritual sacrifice. She was in the seventh month of her pregnancy, expecting her fourth child.

People who walked by saw her mutilated body in Portal dos Lagos, an area surrounded by evangelical churches, and alerted the police immediately, according to Daily Mail. She was found with her corpse dismembered, wearing only a T-shirt and a pair of flip-flops, along with a few coins around her. Police stated that they were investigating the possibility that Karolin was sacrificed as part of a "macabre ritual."

Additionally, the police quickly called her ex-husband to identify the body and notified him of her passing. They were attempting to ascertain whether the victim's partner or lover had any involvement in her heinous murder. "She met a kind of tough gang. I even moved away from her a little bit because of that", a friend told local news site UOL. "But I don't know what happened. She was really nice, she didn't have a bad time. Everyone liked her." 

Karolin lived in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo's municipality of Mogi Guacu. 

Meanwhile, one of Karolin's acquaintances asserted that she was seen inside a black automobile at around midnight on the day of the tragedy. Other eyewitnesses who saw what they believed to be the same vehicle close to the crime scene at around 3 am the same day corroborated her friend's account. The Legal Medical Institute and the Institute of Criminalistics are awaiting the results of a follow-up analysis before continuing their inquiry into the incident. At the General Investigations Police Station in Mogi Guacu, the incident was classified as a homicide.

In another horrific case last week, another pregnant woman was killed in a drive-by shooting one day before her baby shower. In North Harris County, Texas, a 20-year-old woman named Jennifer Hernandez who was eight months pregnant was discovered dead in the automobile. She was in a car that was shot at in a suspected act of road rage, sadly killing both mother and unborn child. Jennifer was expecting a boy, and the Harris County Sheriff's Office reported that Hernandez was discovered in the passenger seat of the car, which was allegedly a blue Nissan Sentra.
