Keanu Reeves took the time to talk to an elderly lady, whose late husband apparently looked like the actor.
Keanu Reeves has made our hearts melt once again with a kind and sweet gesture for an 80-year-old fan. The heartwarming account about Reeves making the old woman's day has been circulating on the internet for quite some time now after someone posted the details on Reddit.
"My grandmother had a crush on Keanu Reeves because he reminded her of my grandfather when he was young. Saw all his stuff, from Bill and Ted to the Matrix," wrote user afdc92. "She had a stroke in her early 70s and was pretty much housebound for the last 10 years of her life, so watching movies was her main hobby, and became almost like friends to her because she so rarely got to see any of her own."
Then one day, the woman's son stumbled across the Speed star himself in a rare stroke of luck. "Not too long after the Matrix came out my uncle was in LA for business and was eating at a really swanky restaurant when Keanu came in with a woman," he continued. Of course, his uncle couldn't just let this opportunity slip but made sure that the artist was not unnecessarily bothered either.
"When he finished his meal my uncle came up to their table and said 'I don’t usually do this, but I just wanted you to know that my 80-year-old mother loves you and has seen all of your movies. You remind her of my dad,'" he recalled. The response he received from the actor left him speechless.
"He said Keanu asked if he had a cell phone on him and when he confirmed that he did, he said, 'Give her a call, I want to talk to her.' He spoke with my grandmother for several minutes and it absolutely made her year. She was so isolated and his genuine kindness to her and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is," he shared.
Redditors on the comment sections quickly began celebrating Reeves' nicety, with one even claiming, "There is virtually no positive story I would not instantly believe about Keanu Reeves. It's been conditioned, after 20 years of just reading stories about random, wholesome acts of non-showy kindness. If I went downstairs and found our kitchen had been remodeled and cleaned overnight and was told 'yeah Keanu Reeves just flew to the UK and sat on the train for 2 hours to do our kitchen, wouldn't accept any money', I'd probably believe it."
Another user shared their own experience with the John Wick star writing, "A friend of mine met him after a Dogstar concert decades ago and he still calls her on her birthday every year." To this, the OP responded, "Not a surprise at all! He asked my uncle what her name was and called her 'Mary' the whole time. It’s the little things that a lot of people wouldn’t think about that makes the biggest difference."
