Recently, Hollywood Unlocked, shared the video of the moment and the singer shared a response.
Alicia Keys was performing at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Monday when she walked through the audience. At this point, one overzealous member of the crowd grabbed her face and smooched her cheek. Understandably, Keys was startled and a little shaken during the moment.
Recently, Hollywood Unlocked, shared the video of the moment with the caption: "#SocialiteSoundOff: We love this song too, but damn, lady! #Socialites, was this fan doing too much by kissing #AliciaKeys on the cheek?!" The Grammy winner was tagged in the post and she responded by saying, "Trust me, I was like what the F—!!!!!!!! Don't she know what time it is???"
Keys was performing her famous "Empire State of Mind" when the incident happened, according to PEOPLE. A similar thing happened during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when she was performing the same song. Lil Mama (born Niatia Jessica Kirkland) reportedly crashed the stage and Keys claims to have no recollection of the event.
"Basically, I remember absolutely nothing. I think I was so focused on performing. Because when you perform, it's a lot. You gotta hit it. You gotta nail it. You gotta kill it. It has to be perfect," she shared. As for Kirkland, she claims to have made countless attempts to apologize to the star but received no response.
When asked about it during an interview on The Morning Hustle, Keys said it is water under the bridge. "That was then. You know, she's from New York, too. You know, I think she really felt the energy of the record, and she loved it, and she couldn't hold herself back. Look, this is what my music does to people. What can we say?" she noted.
