Angelina Jolie once hired a hitman to kill her during a "rather bleak" phase of her life

Everything changed for the star after she had her first child, she finally found the balance and stability she had been craving her entire life.

Celebrity lives are not all luxury, some are rather dark. Angeline Jolie is no different, and she has made a shocking revelation about her life. According to Herald Scotland, the actress confessed that she had been contemplating ending her life when she was young. But the Tomb Raider star knew that suicide would be hard on her family and she felt that being killed was a better option. Thus, she decided to hire a hitman to take her life, instead of doing it herself.

Jolie shared that the decision was made during a "rather bleak" phase of her life while speaking to the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com). Apparently, she also began her search and ended up finding someone who could do it. "This is going to sound insane but there was a time I was going to hire somebody to kill me," she shared. Instead of giving in to her requests, the hitman supposedly asked her to think about what she was about to do. "The person spoke very sweetly to me, he made me think about it for a month. And after a month other things changed in my life and I was surviving again," noted the mother of 6.

She claimed that having herself killed by someone would spare her family and friends a lot of pain that comes with the burden of suicide. "With suicide comes all the guilt of people around you thinking they could have done something," explained the Maleficent actress. "With somebody being murdered, nobody takes some kind of guilty responsibility.'' The 46-year-old had a rather tough childhood ridden with mental health issues which later culminated in the horrific admission. Though she didn't go through with her plan, she suffered suicidal tendencies for many years during her young adulthood.

Before achieving fame, Jolie felt isolated especially during her teenage years. According to Far Out Magazine, she first began with self-afflicted harm to cope with things at school. "For some reason, the ritual of having cut myself and feeling the pain, maybe feeling alive, feeling some kind of release, it was somehow therapeutic to me," revealed the actress. Even after her acting career began, the bruises from her adolescence didn't disappear. Soon she would begin abusing drugs as a coping mechanism. She was just 19 when she first tried to take her life. But at 22 she came up with the plan of having someone else kill her.

When asked why she fell compelled to do so, the 46-year-old said, "They’re not that hard to find in New York. As insane as it sounds, I think a lot of people consider suicide when they’re young." Speaking to The Face, she continued, "I was very aware that so many people around me, like my mother, would feel as though they didn’t give enough or do enough, if I’d taken my own life. So my solution to that was if someone else had taken my life – like in a ‘robbery’ – then it would be murder and it wouldn’t be that anyone would feel they’d let me down." But the hitman with a conscience managed to make Jolie change her mind. The star's mental health issues didn't end that day, in fact, she suffered a nervous breakdown when she was 24. But everything changed after she had her first child and finally got the stability she had been craving for in her life. Now the 46-year-old is a mother of six who loves her children more than anything in the world.
