Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore had a high-profile romance back in the day and when the two split Kutcher had a rather unusual breakup routine. While they were together, the couple was in the news quite often for their 16-year age gap. The two were married for six years before separating in 2011 and finalizing their divorce in 2013. Kutcher had a unique approach to coping with the split. The Two and a Half Men star went to the mountains with nothing but some water, tea bags and a notebook. "Right after I got divorced, I went to the mountains for a week by myself," Kutcher told Dax Shepard during an interview for his podcast, Armchair Expert. “I went into Big Sky in Montana, and I did no food, no drink — just water and tea.”

The actor-entrepreneur also said he switched off all ways of communication as well. “I took all my computers away, my phone, my everything,” he explained. “I was there by myself so there was no talking, and I just had a notepad and a pen and water and tea for a week.” While it may seem rather extreme, Kutcher affirmed that he actually had a great time. “I started to hallucinate on like day 2 which was fantastic,” he said. “It was pretty wonderful. I was doing tai chi with my own energy.” When Shepard asked the actor if he had any experience with the martial art form, Kutcher said with a laugh, “No, I was just doing what came to me.”

While in the woods, The Butterfly Effect actor spent much of his time writing. "I wrote down every single relationship that I had where I felt like there was some grudge or some anything, and then I wrote letters to every single person and sent the letters on day seven," he said. By the end of the week, he said he typed out the letters and sent them to the respective people. "It was almost like an A.A. exercise, where I was like, 'I probably have done some damage,' so I just cleared [my] palate." He concluded by saying that the experience was “really spiritual and kind of awesome.”
According to PEOPLE, when the former couple separated they each came out with their own statements. Kutcher said he "will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail.” Demi added, “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.” Kutcher later found love with his That '70s show costar Mila Kunis and the two share two children together: Wyatt Isabelle and Dimitri Portwood. Guess love and break-ups work in mysterious ways!
