Zeta-Jones, 53, and Douglas, 78, were both born on September 25.
Happy birthday Catherine Zeta-Jones... and Michael Douglas! The couple share their birthday on September 25 but were born decades apart. Zeta-Jones turned 53 while her husband turned 78 this year. They both paid tribute to each other on social media with the Wall Street actor gushing over his wife as he captioned a throwback photo of the two, "Happy Birthday Catherine! I love you always & forever.
Zeta-Jones responded in the comments section, saying, "Happy Birthday darling. So happy to share this day with you. Love you." The actress also shared some sweet snaps of the couple celerbating with cake, writing in the caption, "And that was our birthday! Thank you for all your greetings. And Maria Fiennes for these lovely pics. Let the New Year begin!!😘"
The couple was spotted celebrating their special day holidaying in Sardinia. They had luxurious meal on the Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea after getting off a friend's yacht. The Mask of Zorro actress was spotted in a chic ensemble: a striped top, teamed with black pants and white sneakers. She also wore trendy hat and pink scarf, while carrying a shoulder bag as she walked behind Michael, Lawrence Stroll, and his wife Raquel Diniz. Her husband was seen in a gray sweater, black jeans, and smart shoes while celebrating at Hotel Cala di Volpe in Porto Cervo. The photos were captured by the Daily Mail and can be seen here.
The pair first met way back in 1998 and the rest as they say is history. "My first night meeting Catherine at the Deauville Film Festival in 1998. I found out that she had the same birthday as me--tadaah!" Douglas wrote in his Instagram caption as tribute to their birthday last year. "Then when I discovered she loved golf, I realized all my fantasies had come true. I've lucked out at this time in my life."
The famous couple first tied the knot in November, 2000 and have been married for 21 years. Revealing the secret of their long-lasting marriage, the Welsh actress revealed to WSJ that they make sure to have fun together. She added that "constant love and respect" and maintaining a "sense of humor" are key but no matter what no relationship is absolutely perfect and that's "normal." "My husband and I spend a lot of time together because, unlike so many couples, we've never had a 9-to-5 job where it's consistent," The Legend of Zorro star explained. "... So we've had in our relationship huge amounts of time where we've been just us. We lived on the island of Bermuda for 12 years bringing up our kids. We respect each other's space, and our humor is just long-lasting," she added.
