The long-lost daughter was determined to find out who her real parents were and it led her to Clint Eastwood.
For a long time, Clint Eastwood, a father of eight children, believed he was a father of seven. The 89-year-old actor had no idea that he had a daughter, who was secretly given up for adoption, and he lived the better half of his life not knowing she existed.
Before Clint Eastwood got married to Maggie Johnson in 1953, he had a serious relationship with a woman in Seattle, while he was engaged to Johnson. This was much before he became a famous star. What he didn't know was that she became pregnant and that she put the unidentified woman put the baby up for adoption after their relationship came to an end. The baby, Laurie Murray, was adopted by a couple in Seattle. Many years later, she wanted to find out who her biological parents were.
"This all happened around 30 years ago. Laurie Murray had been really interested in finding out who her real parents were and hired someone to help her. When they found the paperwork, her biological mother had written down Clint Eastwood's name," a family friend told DailyMail.com in 2018. "From what it appeared, Clint Eastwood had no idea that she was even pregnant."
Laurie Murray's son, Lowell Thomas IV who's better-known as LT, told Radar, "They met when she was in her thirties. [Laurie’s] mother never told him she was pregnant or spoke to him again."
Talking about Laurie Murray's childhood, the family friend told the Daily Mail, "I don't think she had the best upbringing, certainly not privileged. When she found her biological parents, she reached out to her mother but she didn't want to be contacted."
Although it was not revealed how she approached him, it was reported that he welcomed her to the family and tried to build a close relationship with her. "It obviously came as a great shock to Laurie but I believe that Clint was extremely receptive to her and the situation," said the family friend.
Over the years, Clint Eastwood and Laurie Murray grew closer, and she became a regular part of family vacations. One thing they bond over is their love for golf as well as the outdoors. Laurie Murray even hit it off with other members of the family. "Laurie had a really great relationship with Clint's mom. It seems to be a close relationship and they are together fairly often," revealed the family friend back then.
Details about her existence were revealed to the public for the first time when Clint Eastwood's biographer, Patrick McGilligan, mentioned his relationship with Laurie Murray's biological mother and the consequent adoption in the book, Clint: The Life and Legend.
"I think when he discovered she was his daughter and realized she was that person from long before … he was okay with it," the biographer said, according to Inside Edition.
The friend shared with the Daily Mail, "We always wondered why it was never really widely known or widely acknowledged before. He took Laurie to the Oscars around the time that he was nominated for Mystic River with his mom and Dina."
64 years old when the Daily Mail report came out, Laurie Murray was reported to be a mother of two, who came from a small, affluent town of Lakewood, Washington, around an hour from Seattle. "Laurie and her family are wealthy in their own right. So it wasn't a situation, which I'm sure someone like Clint Eastwood is used to, of someone crawling out of the woodwork looking for money," the source revealed. "Laurie is a very nice woman and very private, she definitely doesn't go around telling people this."
She doesn't even go by the name Laurie Eastwood, the friend shared. Laurie Murray's children, LT and Kelsey, have also met their grandfather and have spent time with each other.
Speaking about his grandfather's relationship with his family, LT said, "All I would say is that he’s been a great father to my mom, and always great to me and my family whenever we see him."
LT also told Radar, "It was clear he had no clue so to make him look like a bad guy is inaccurate. He’s a class act 100 percent."
Apart from Laurie Murray, his long-lost child, Clint Eastwood fathered his seven other children from the different relationships he has had.
When he was married to Maggie Johnson from 1953 to 1984, he had a son named Kyle and a daughter named Alison, according to Fox News. During his marriage, he also had an affair with Roxanne Tunis, and through that relationship, he had a daughter named Kimber. While dating his former girlfriend, Jacelyn Reeves, Clint Eastwood had two children, Scott and Kathryn. And he also had his daughter Francesca with his co-star, Frances Fisher. The last of his children, Morgan was the son he had with his wife, Dina Ruiz, whom he married in 1996.
