Benedict Cumberbatch protects fan from a group of men who crowds and pushes her

In a now-viral video, a woman could be seen asking Cumberbatch for his autograph but she is soon crowded and jostled by the men who simply could not keep their calm.

Benedict Cumberbatch is being showered with praise for defending a fan who was being crowded by a group of overly eager men. The Doctor Strange actor was seen instructing the bunch to "back up" as they continued attempting to film and ask him questions.

In a now-viral video, a woman could be seen asking Cumberbatch for his autograph but she is soon crowded and jostled by the men who simply could not keep their calm. As the actor neared to sign what she had offered, he noticed the guys in the back trying to make their way to him.

"Back up. Keep backing up," he said several times as fans responded with, "Yes, sir." He then turned his attention to the woman standing closest to him and said, "Not you, hon. The people pushing you. Trying to do it for you." Responding to this, the woman said, "Oh, thank you, my love."

Cumberbatch then looks at a male fan who seems to have been trying to sneak in an item he had to sign in and issues another "backup" warning. "I can’t sign if you’ve got it in my way," he noted. The man quickly apologizes to the Imitation Game actor but he shakes his head in disapproval.

"Don’t apologize to me, apologize to the lady," he said. According to Business Insider, the woman had been patiently waiting for Cumberbatch’s appearance in Times Square. She was standing behind barricades but other fans began pushing her past the barriers in an attempt to get his attention.

That's why the fan appeared distressed and when Cumberbatch noticed what had happened, he made sure to put others in place and give the lady the autograph she had been waiting for patiently. This video has since been viewed over 6 million times on TikTok and continues to make rounds on social media.

The actor has amassed quite a following ever since his titular role in the hit series Sherlock. But it's not just his acting skills that have made people fall in love with him but also his elegant manners. Just a few months back, he revealed his plans of hosting a Ukrainian refugee family in his home after making sure that they escaped the war-torn country safely following the Russian invasion.

"I want to give them some stability after the turmoil that they’ve experienced, and that’s within my home," he shared in May according to reports. He also opened up about financially assisting many Ukrainians to flee their country.
