Beloved dog returns home after 7-year-old writes to Santa asking for help | "A Christmas miracle has happened"

"I still can’t believe it," Jane added. "Our little boy wrote a letter to Santa for Basco to be back and it happened!"

Months had passed since the Yanna family had last seen their four-legged pal after he went missing a few months ago. Just as the family had lost all hope of ever finding Basco, their 8-year-old Golden Retriever, things started looking up after a little boy's earnest letter to Santa.

Back in the month of July this year, Basco had escaped from the family's garden in Atherstone, Warwickshire in the UK at around 1 in the afternoon, according to Dog Lost. The family's search yielded no results. They spread the word around, but were left devastated when they could not find any sign of Basco and his whereabouts in the days that followed.

Weeks turned into months without Basco in the house as the family waited for any leads to help find him. They had nearly lost all hope, until 7-year-old Daniel Yanna wrote a letter to Santa about their missing pet.

While the family started to believe that they may never see Basco again, the boy still tried his luck and wrote to Santa, asking him to bring his best friend back home, according to ITV.

Soon enough, the Yanna family received a call from a complete stranger, telling them that they had found Basco and had recognized the dog after seeing posts of a 'missing dog' on the internet. And so, on Sunday, December 6, Basco was reunited with young Daniel and the rest of the family, just in time for the dog to spend Christmas with the people who dearly love him, as reported by Birmingham Live.

Calling the reunion the "best Christmas present ever," Daniel's mother, Jane Yanna happily smiled and said, "A Christmas miracle has happened. After months our lovely dog Basco is back home - the best Christmas present ever! We feel great."

"I still can’t believe it," Jane added. "Our little boy wrote a letter to Santa for Basco to be back and it happened!"

Talking about Basco going missing and how the family put in all their efforts to find him, Jane said, "He escaped from our garden in July, he just vanished. There were no signs of him, simply nothing. Lots of people helped to look for him and we shared posts everywhere but there were still no signs. We started to stop believing he would come back. I cried for weeks."

With Christmas around the corner, the family was put out of their misery after they received the call from the stranger who found Basco. Overjoyed to see the pooch walk back into the house was Daniel, who can now spend the holidays with his best friend right by his side.

"...On Sunday (December 6) someone called my husband and said that they have our dog because they saw a post of the missing dog on the internet and they brought him home to us," Jane shared.

The family believes that their relentless sharing of 'missing dog' posts, which were then shared by others on social media, helped bring Basco back home.

"It is great even for people who have also lost their dog to show that you shouldn’t give up and to continue to share posts as much as they can because this is what helped us," Jane went on to say. "Thank you to everyone who helped us to look for him and shared our posts."
