Even though it seemed impossible for Pierce Vaughan to see her family during the holidays, her father Hal Vaughan wasn't ready to give up just yet.
No one likes working during the holidays. In fact, people look forward to spending some quality time with their loved ones. But unfortunately, Pierce Vaughan had to work several shifts as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines through Christmas Eve and Day. Even though it seemed impossible to see her family during this time, her father Hal Vaughan wasn't ready to give up just yet. According to PEOPLE, Vaughan bought many plane tickets hoping to spend the holiday with Pierce during her work hours.
The adorable story of the father, who went to great lengths to spend Christmas with his beloved daughter, went viral in 2018 after a passenger sitting next to Hal shared the beautiful encounter on Facebook. "I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas," shared Mike Levy along with a photo of himself with Hal and one showing Pierce in her flight attendant uniform.
"Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her," wrote Levy. "So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a fantastic father! Wish you both a very Merry Christmas!" The Ohio man later told USA TODAY, that Hal had actually purchased six flights to spend the holiday with his daughter. The two met on Christmas eve on a flight that was heading to Detroit from Fort Myers. Although navigating through all the flights did turn out to be challenging, it was totally worth the trouble as the father got to be with his flight attendant daughter.
Later Pierce shared the photos clicked by Levy on Facebook and thanked her employer airline for being very accommodating to her father. "Look ma we made it Kimberly Hal Vaughan," wrote the woman. "Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success! A special thanks to all the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country, and my perfect crew." She added, "He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas miracle)."
Finally, she thanked Levy for the virality their story had gained thanks to his post. "Shoutout to Mike Levy for being a great first-class passenger & helping us to understand how cool this actually is!" she wrote concluding the post. According to NBC Chicago, Delta Airlines released a statement that read, "We appreciate all of our employees for working during the holidays to serve Delta customers, and love seeing this awesome Dad having the chance to spend Christmas with his daughter— even while crisscrossing the country at 30,000 feet."
