Trigger Warning: This story contains details of child abuse and murder that may be disturbing to readers.

Aleksandr Pilipenko, 44, was allegedly an abusive partner and so his wife, 23-year-old Yekaterina Pilipenko, asked him for a divorce. According to The Sun, the man was beyond furious when his wife wished to end the marriage. It was her 5-year-old daughter who had to bear the brunt of this fury by being abused and losing her life. The cruel man is said to have beat up the little girl. He then raped the young girl before drowning her in the bathtub.

The tragic incident took place at their home in the village of Kropotkine, Crimea. The Crimean Supreme Court heard on Monday that the man then dressed the little girl's dead body before burying it on the outskirts of the village.

He then went on to report the girl missing. However, two days later, he confessed to the cops that he had killed her brutally. "The stepfather battered the girl during her bath time before committing acts of sexual nature against her," police official Olga Postnova said. "After that, he drowned her in the bathtub." After the hearing, Pilipenko was charged with rape and murder of a minor, and was sentenced to life in prison. After the unfortunate death of her daughter in 2019, Yekaterina sought medical help.

The poor woman was hospitalized after her daughter's death and is still undergoing treatment in a mental health facility. "She 'takes Daria to school' and 'talks' to her. She does not believe that her daughter is no longer alive," her relatives said.

"At first, she realized that the girl was buried, but then something went wrong. Doctors give positive predictions." One can only imagine the kind of pain the poor woman must be going through. Thankfully, the man will pay for his sins. However, in another instance, one judge told a rape victim that she could have avoided getting raped if she had closed her legs. In 2016, Superior Court Judge John Russo Jr. asked the rape victim, "Do you know how to stop somebody from having intercourse with you?"

"Yes," the woman answered and gave the suggestions of physically defending oneself and running away. Russo replied, "Run away, get away. Anything else?"

"I—that's all I know," said the woman.

Russo went on to say, "Block your body parts? Close your legs? Call the police? Did you do any of those things?" After the woman left the courtroom, it was reported that the judge then joked about her to the staffers and Chief Justice Stuart Rabner said this was "just as problematic." This 2016 incident is not the only case of misconduct over the years on Russo's part. You can read more about it here.
