Sylvester Stallone covered his tattoo of Jennifer Flavin prior to their divorce announcement

"I'm sad to announce that after 25 years of marriage I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone," she shared in a statement.

Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin have decided to part ways after 25 years of marriage. Flavin, 54, filed a petition "for dissolution of marriage and other relief" from the Creed actor, 76, on August 19, 2022, at a court in Palm Beach County, Florida, according to PEOPLE

"I'm sad to announce that after 25 years of marriage I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone. While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared, and I know we are both committed to our beautiful daughters. I ask for privacy for our family as we amicably move forward," read a statement from Flavin who first began dating Stallone in 1988.

Meanwhile, Stallone shared a statement with PEOPLE: "I love my family. We are amicably and privately addressing these personal issues." Although the reason behind their separation hasn't been made public, a source close to the pair said that a massive fight over a dog had resulted in Flavin filing for divorce, per TMZ

The 76-year-old actor apparently got a Rottweiler named Dwight for the "protection" of their family. But Flavin was not too thrilled about having another dog. The pair could not reach a compromise as they "fiercely stuck to their positions." Due to this, they had "an extremely heated argument that brought up other issues" in their marriage, however, it didn't seem to be "marriage-enders" at that point, revealed the source.

That being said, Stallone denied these claims and noted that their disagreement over Dwight did not cause their marriage to end. "We did not end the relationship on such a trivial argument," he told TMZ, adding that the two were going "in different directions" and had decided to call it quits. "I have the highest respect for Jennifer. I will always love her. She’s an amazing woman. She’s the nicest human being I’ve ever met," he added.

But that's not all. Stallone covered his tattoo of Flavin with a portrait of his late dog Butkus. "Mr. Stallone intended to refresh the tattoo image of his wife Jennifer; however, the results were unsatisfactory and, unfortunately, unfixable," Stallone's publicist Michelle Bega told the Daily Mail.

"Mr. Stallone loves his family. The Stallones are presently filming a reality show together which will debut on Paramount+" added Bega and Stallone agreed saying that he intended to "freshen up" Falvin's tattoo but "it got messed up and the dog was just a fix will no ill intention."
