Senior pit bulls Fran and Earl are up for adoption at the Homeward Animal Shelter but not separately.
Love is in the air at a North Dakota animal shelter where two senior dogs made their devotion to each other official. Senior pit bulls Fran and Earl are up for adoption at the Homeward Animal Shelter but not separately. Describing the two as a "bonded pair" who just had a doggy wedding, shelter spokesperson Heather Klefstad revealed that they must be adopted together, according to local news station KKTV.
"We want people to see how great these dogs are," she shared. "They’re sweet and lovable dogs. They deserve the best home and love. They are just incredible." The beautiful nuptials took place on Tuesday, July 12, at the Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society in Fargo with the hope that it gives the two a chance to get noticed.
The couple were decorated with floral wreaths for the ceremony which included their canine guests, a cake, and even a bulldog officiant. What's more, the pair had a marriage certificate which was complete when the bride and groom placed their paw prints on it.
A sweet video showing the lead-up to the ceremony made it evident that no one was cold feet. "Fran & Earl just couldn’t wait any longer! July 12th, 2022 will always be a special day ♥️ Fran & Earl hope you can all join us for their reception at Paws Walk on 7/19. Looks like we might have to keep our eyes on Rosie now too 👀😉" read the caption of the TikTok video.
The shelter went on to reveal on Facebook that the pair's official "wedding reception" will be held on July 19 at the organization’s annual PAWS Walk fundraiser. According to local news station KVRR, Fran and Earl had been living together before their marriage at the shelter. They sadly ended up here when their owners could no longer care for them.

On its website, the shelter calls Earl Fran’s "one true love," on her bio. It also adds that the two elder pooches "enjoy frequent snuggles and sleeping in every morning!" As for Earl's bio, it talks about how much he enjoys "short walks and long naps with my sweetheart, Fran."
Currently, they are in a foster home together while awaiting someone to adopt them permanently. Hopefully they get to spend their honeymoon at a forever home that loves and care for them unconditionally.
