Police say 'someone knows' what happened to missing teen Kiely Rodni but is 'not coming forward'

The teenager's car, a 2013 silver Honda SUV with a California license plate No 8YUR127, is also missing.

Police believe someone has information on what happened to missing teenager Kiely Rodni and it urging them to come forward and help the authorities. The 16-year-old has been missing since August 6, when she was last seen after midnight near Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, where she attended an end-of-school party. Northern California police are now sifting through a huge tranch of footage obtained from businesses, surveillance cameras, and Ring home security systems. The authorities believe "someone knows" what happened to the missing teenager. Nevada County Sheriff’s Office captain Sam Brown made the statement  during a press conference on Wednesday. “We believe that someone knows. Someone saw her but they’re not coming forward,” said Brown. Police were alerted of her disappearance the next morning after failing to show up for a planned hike with friends, and is currently treating it as a case of abduction.

The authorities have roped in the services of multiple law enforcement agencies, nearly 50 FBI agents, cadaver dogs, helicopters, search-and-rescue divers, and helicopter sweeps, in addition to volunteers, to try and locate the girl but haven't been able to get any information on Rodni. “We do not have any new leads, and that I can tell you is very frustrating for us,” Josh Barnhart of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office added during the briefing, reported The Independent. Rodni was last spotted wearing Dickies pants and a black tank top. She has several piercings, wears a nose ring, stands 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighs 115 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes. The teenager's car, a 2013 silver Honda SUV with a California license plate No 8YUR127 is also missing.

Samantha Smith, 18, is the last known person to have spoken with Rodni. They spoke on the phone after midnight on Saturday. “At 12.36 am, she called me … and this is the last call anybody had with her. We said ‘love you, good night. Get home safe,’ and that’s the last thing we heard of her,” said Smith on Monday. Smith said Rodni was visibly intoxicated and was in no position to drive home. Smith revealed that both of them had made arrangements for a ride home pretty early in the night. “Right now we believe that it is an abduction case ... she was in no state to drive and she wouldn’t have made it far or would have crashed,” said Smith.
