Prince Harry wrote a "deeply personal" letter to Prince Charles before going back home for Prince Philip's funeral

Prince Harry has been writing letters to his father since their split from the royal family due to a "complete communication breakdown."

Prince Harry has reached out to his father, Prince Charles, with a "deeply personal" note following the demise of Prince Philip. He is believed to be have written this letter to try and fix whatever is left of their relationship, after his departure with his wife Meghan Markle from the royal family, and their tell-all interview with Oprah. Before going back home for his grandfather's funeral, Prince Harry decided to make amends. He will be seeing his family face-to-face for the first time since he moved across the sea to live in California with his wife and their son, Archie.

"Truth be told, Harry didn’t really know what to expect before he came home, which is why he reached out before seeing everyone," a royal source told The Mirror. “He wrote a deeply personal note to his dad to try and set things straight but tensions are still running high and things haven’t exactly ironed out the way he had hoped." The members of the royal family had come to an unspoken agreement to set their differences aside to solely concentrate on supporting the Queen ahead of Prince Philip’s funeral. They agreed that this was a time of mourning and not the time or place to rehash things about the split or the interview.

Prince Harry has been writing letters to his father since their split from the royal family due to a "complete communication breakdown." Prince Charles was upset when his son did the Oprah interview even as the Duke of Edinburgh was seriously ill in the hospital. In the much-talked-about and controversial interview, Markle and Prince Harry made staggering revelations of their time in the royal family. This included the blatant racism Markle faced and how no one reached out to her when she was pregnant and feeling suicidal. Prince Harry shared that his father and brother were "trapped" in the royal institution and it would be hard for them to leave as he did.

This statement was thought to be outrageous by Prince Charles and Prince William. The brothers were seen speaking to each other after their grandfather's funeral but the relationship was still said to be "frosty." While Prince Charles was hoping to be able to catch up with his son post the funeral, Prince Harry said he would not be sticking around. The two future kings do have their hands full at the moment as they are dedicating their time and effort to supporting the queen, mourning the death of her husband of 73 years. Prince Harry is expected to fly back to be with his wife who is due to deliver a baby daughter soon. She was not allowed to travel due to doctor's orders but has written a heartfelt letter to her father-in-law that was delivered along with a floral wreath, reported Page Six.

It was known that Prince Philip was upset about his grandson's fallout. But they were reunited, albeit briefly and for appearance's sake, for his funeral just like the old times. In his note to his father, Prince Harry is believed to have "outlined his reasons for leaving" while promising to "respect the institution", the sources revealed. “Harry didn’t expect everything to be completely back to normal but his feeling after seeing his family was there is a lot of ground to make up," the source said. “Whether that is harder or easier to do on the other side of the world remains to be seen."
