Nancy Pelosi's 82-year-old husband was arrested for suspected DUI

Paul could be charged with driving under the influence and driving with an alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher according to the Napa County Criminal Justice Network's records.

The United States House of Representative Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband has been arrested on a suspected DUI in Northern California, according to police records. Paul Pelosi, 82, was taken into custody over the weekend in Napa County north of San Francisco, per a sheriff's office online booking report.

Paul could be charged with driving under the influence and driving with an alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher according to the Napa County Criminal Justice Network's records, according to NPR.

His bail was set for $5,000 for both the misdemeanors. At that time details regarding the issue were not available but California Highway Patrol Officer Andrew Barclay saying that more information would be released by Sunday. 



 

A spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi, Drew Hammill, told The Associated Press, "The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast." Yesterday, CBS News reported that the 82-year-old was driving a 2021 Porsche which was hit by a 2014 Jeep as he tried to cross a state road in Napa County on Saturday.

By Sunday morning he was bailed out and the California Highway Patrol revealed that the 48-year-old Jeep driver was not arrested, adding that no one was hurt during this incident, reports CNBC. A representative for Pelosi shared in a statement that Paul was attending a dinner party thrown by his friends at an Oakville home. 



 

He left the part around 10:15 p.m. and was on his way home when the accident happened "a short distance away" at around 10:26 p.m. on State Route 29 at Walnut Lane. Paul was eastbound on Walnut lane when his vehicle was hit by the Jeep traveling northbound on SR-29. 

It was reported that Paul was alone in his car and that he was "fully cooperative" with authorities as they arrested him for driving under the influence. The processing took until 7:30 a.m. Sunday after which he was allowed to leave.

While her husband got into trouble that weekend, Nancy Pelosi was in Rhode Island delivering the 2022 commencement address at Brown University. "I see dazzling brilliance, beautiful diversity," she told the crowd of graduates according to ABC News. "I see the future -- and it is you. So class of 2022, go forward with courage to build unity and hold on to your hope," added Pelosi who was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree there.
