Rescued seal is so excited to celebrate his 32nd birthday, he falls asleep on his cake

He is a favorite among staff and guests and is "very energetic and enthusiastic."

An adorable seal was so excited to celebrate his 32nd birthday that he wound up falling asleep on his cake.

The seal named Yulelogs calls the Cornish Seal Sanctuary his home and can instantly make the sanctuary's visitors fall in love with him. He's a favorite among both the staff as and the guests, and so, it was only fair that he gets a big treat for his birthday.

After digging into his colorful fish cake, the grey seal fell asleep on top of his cake to catch a break from all the excitement.

"It has become a tradition to make a birthday cake for our resident seals as a special treat,” a sanctuary spokesperson, Kayleigh Slowey, told Good News Network. "And, it wouldn’t be a Log’s birthday celebration without a snooze on top of his cake after all the excitement!"

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY YULELOGS!" the Cornish Seal Sanctuary wrote on Facebook for the seal's birthday on September 10, 2021. "Our handsome boy is 32 years old today! The team have outdone themselves with his fish cake, look at those layers!"

Because it was Yulelogs' special day, the sanctuary shared the seal's backstory and said: "Yulelogs is a firm favorite with both our team and guests. He was originally rescued in 1989 by a marine park in the north of England, when the park closed down Yulelogs was released back into the wild."

Unfortunately, Yulelogs was not able to get accustomed to his new life in the wild. "...As he had spent such a long time in captivity, he had no idea how to feed himself and had become too used to humans. Three months after his release, Yulelogs was rescued by the RSPCA after concerned members of the public reported that he was chasing people with buckets on the beach as he believed they contained fish," the sanctuary continued in their post.

Once again, Yulelogs was rescued and was given a new home.

At the time, the seal weighed only 132-lbs (60kg), which was extremely worrying because the standard weight is 550-lbs (250kg). "It was apparent he needed care so the RSPCA asked if the Sanctuary could provide him with a permanent home and the rest is history!" the sanctuary went on to say.

Today, Yulelogs is as happy as can be! "He is a very energetic and enthusiastic seal, especially when it comes to his husbandry training and environmental enrichment," the post added.

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary is run by the nonprofit called Sea Life Trust, and it gives people the chance to "adopt" any of their seals. By adopting Yulelogs or any of the other seals at the sanctuary, an individual can sponsor the seal's expenses and help ensure that these loveable creatures get the care they need.

"We couldn’t do our work without you," said their website. "Every year, we rescue seal pups in need of care from around the coastline. From wounds, to entanglement to malnourishment; there are lots of reasons why seal pups might need rescuing."

Any amount can make a difference for a seal. You can click here if you would like to donate.
