Britney Spears reveals she suffered a miscarriage of her 'miracle baby' with fiancé

The devastated pair questioned if they should have waited a little longer before announcing the pregnancy but noted that "we were overly excited to share the good news."

Britney Spears has heartbreakingly revealed her miscarriage a month after announcing she was pregnant with her "miracle child." On Saturday the 40-year-old singer and her fiancé, Sam Asghari, shared the news via an Instagram post.

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent," read their joint statement. The devastated pair questioned if they should have waited a little longer before announcing the pregnancy but noted that "we were overly excited to share the good news."

Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along. However, we were overly excited to share the good news. Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment," it continued.

According to ABC News, Spears announced her pregnancy on Instagram back on April 11 saying that she "got a pregnancy test ... and uhhhhh well ... I am having a baby." The same day, 28-year-old Asghari took to his Instagram and shared that fatherhood was "something I have always looked forward to."

"Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect. Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to and I don’t take lightly. It is the most important job I will ever do🙏," read his post which he shared alongside a painting of a lion, lioness, and their cub. This would have been Spears' first baby with Asghari, who she met in 2016 and has referred to him as her husband many times. The pair announced their engagement in September 2021 previously.

Spears, who shares two teenage sons - 16-year-old Sean Preston and 15-year-old Jayden James - with ex-husband Kevin Federline, has previously hinted that she wishes to expand her family. While fighting to end her 13-year conservatorship, the Stronger singer revealed that she wanted to "get married and have a baby" with her partner but could not do so as she was under the conservatorship. Thankfully, it ended in November 2021 and Spears was free to make her own choice.
