The two sure know how to keep the spark alive.
Things do tend to get a bit monotonous after a few years after your wedding, and while most people try their best to keep the spark alive, Suzanne Somers and husband Alan Hamel don't even have to try. Despite being married for about four decades, the two can't seem to get enough of each other. According to PEOPLE, Somers, 74, revealed that she and her husband 84, still have some fun in their bedroom. In fact, they had sex thrice a day, and we're just talking about what happens before noon!
The Three's Company star shared some details of her sex life on Heather Dubrow's World podcast. "At this stage of life, most people think that's over the hill. What time is it, noon? I had sex with him three times so far today," said Somers. Her husband likes to wake up early. She revealed, "What is this thing about 4:30 in the morning that's suddenly like, 'Oh there he is.' I'm like, 'Could you just wait 'til the sun comes up?'"
She spoke about how wonderful their relationship has always been, and more so now as it's just the two of them because their children have grown up lead independent lives. She noted, "God, our relationship has always been amazing," adding, "But now that our kids are raised and it's just me and Al, and we paid for the tuition, we paid for the weddings and helped them get their start — now it's just us. Man, are we having fun."
In 2019, Somers revealed to Daily Mail that she and her husband have taken shots of PT-141, a melanocortin-based peptide, which helped them add some rigor to their sex life. "I'm kind of in that groove, like when you were younger and you're in the mood all the time, and so is he because he's on hormone replacements," she said.
Plant-based or bioidentical hormones have always been a part of their diet for nutrition, but the couple introduced shots of PT-141 to their routine after learning it is a "sexual stimulant that works on your brain."
"I thought, 'Wow, what a great thing.' Because men have had Viagra, but this is actually a shot for both men and women that's not a drug," she explained. "It just stimulates that part of your brain that says, 'Hey, I'm kind of in the mood.' And, so, isn't that a wonderful thing? And it's not a drug, so I love it." At the time, the star explained that they took the shot once a week and they had sex twice a day, though most of their contemporaries couldn't even get out of bed.
"I usually say I sleep through one of them. That's usually that one at 4 o'clock in the morning," she joked. "But, you know, then again around 8 o'clock in the morning, I'm in the mood."
The couple wed in 1977, and have been together ever since. They have had their shares of ups and downs like any other couple, but they have always managed to weather the storm. Hamel admitted, "We married and fought like wild dogs for years. But we both knew that this was the real deal and worth figuring out, which we did." He added, "Since that time, our relationship has really deepened and I don’t remember the last time we argued. We are together 24 hours a day and not one night apart in over 40 years. I crave another 40."
